BAMC as the fund manager of the fund, does not hold clients’ money. Client’s subscription money goes straight into the fund’s bank account and the Trustee holds the money on behalf of the fund. BAMC needs to instruct the Trustee to move the money at the fund level to the relevant investments, in accordance to the investment objectives of the fund. We have two parties (BAMC and Trustee) to verify the NAV rate and to make sure it is accurate before posting.
The daily NAV is computed based on the closing stock prices of the unit trust fund stock holdings at the end of business day, plus its cash holdings. Closing prices are available on the stock exchanges, and we can also obtain from the stockbrokers that we trade with. The actual computation of the NAV is done by the trustee and doubled checked by the fund manager.
Asia is picked as our target markets for the BAEF given its favorable macro-economic factors. Asia in general has a large and young population base, many countries in Asia have joined the RCEP - expected to be the world’s largest trading bloc, many Asian companies are well run and have strong professional management, and lastly as a region, Asia has rich natural resources in both soft and hard commodities. Asia’s growth is thus expected to outpace that of EU, US and Japan. Valuation of Asian companies are also generally cheaper than those in other regions.
Investing in funds offer investors a host of benefits such as diversification, professional management, economies of scale, transparency, and liquidity.
The gain or loss from the BAEF is reflected in the daily NAV. When the stocks in the fund rise, the daily NAV will be higher and vice-versa. The BAEF will also invest in stocks which will include those that pay regular dividends. The dividends paid to the fund will not be distributed to unitholders. Instead, the dividends will be added as cash to the fund, and can be reinvested. The accounting of the NAV will reflect the dividends paid out. In other words, investors will still benefit from the dividend payment through an uplift in the fund NAV.
